How can sports help kids Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
How can sports help kids - Research Paper Example Organized sporting activities help children feel satisfied and have a sense of achievement. It builds a spirit of teamwork and leadership in the children. Parents should not restrict their children from engaging in physical activities if they want their children to be exemplary leaders. However, sporting activities have been declining in the past years because of technological advancements with boys being the most affected (Active community guide, 2002). Children have just playing computer and video games instead of physical activities. Girls are the greatest benefiters of sporting activities as they take sports more seriously than boys. Sports permit kids to develop teamwork, competition, leadership and communication skills. These aspects are particularly relevant in growing children. We need to instill these in all children and prepare them as future leaders. Sports also assist in improvement of health of children and reduce future health related problems. In terms of health, it helps build healthy bones in children and enhances fitness. Games also endorse good posture and reinforce the heart. The kids involved in sports are more relaxed than their lazy partners, and this in general boosts proper growth and maturity. I think both the family and the instructors participate significantly in the development of kids through sports. As we all know, children learn through play it helps them learn about the societal context. As children involve themselves in sports and various games, they learn how to solve problems and help themselves. Their mind is developed, and they understand more easily on what they are being taugh t. Sports help the children expand on their physical skills which are learnt as they find out how to climb and handle their toys. Parents should ensure that they have spent considerable time with their children so that the children will feel motivated. They need to be offering emotional

I thank the university and the department for providing me with the technical as well as educational support apart from laboratory facilities for carrying out this research. It has been a great pleasure to complete this thesis under the support and guidance of my professors. Hypothesis Chk1 kinase is phosphorylated at serine 345 in r esponse to DNA damage. Dis2 dephosphorylated this residue slowly when cells recover from a DNA damage-induced cell cycle arrest. A rise in temperature from 30à °C to 40à °C results in the rapid dephosphorylation of S345 by a yet unknown phosphatase. The purpose of this experiment is to investigate the requirement of Dis2 for the heat-induced phosphorylation and to investigate the cell cycle roles of this enzyme. Other phosphor-proteins such as Hus1 and Rad9 are also investigated. 1. Abstract Protein phosphatases are a group of enzymes which have very specific role in biological cell activities. Dis2 is a PP1 enzyme (serine-threonine phosphatase-1) which plays a key role in regulation of DNA damage signaling. Fission yeast Dis2 regulates the DNA damage respons by dephosphorylation of chk1 kinase at Ser 345. In eukaryotic cells, phosphorylation mainly occurs on three hydroxyl-containing amino acids, namely ââ¬â serine, threonine, and tyrosine, of which serine is the predominant target. Dis2 dephosphorylates the DNA damage checkpoint kinase Chk1 (at Ser-345) to switch off the checkpoint signal. Interestingly, heat stress results in very rapid removal of the phosphate from Ser 345 by a yet unknown phosphatase. Given the requirement of Dis2 for the dephosphorylation of Ser 345 at the normal growth temperature of 30à °C, this study was conducted to investigate the role of this phosphatase under heat stress condition modification of Ser 345 is easily detected as a band shift of the protein which changes from a closed, low activity conformation

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT DISCUSSION Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2500 words
FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT DISCUSSION - Essay Example Profitability is the difference between revenue and costs generated by both current and fixed assets during normal business activities. From working capital point of view risk is the probability of the inability of the entity to pay its current liabilities when those become due. Simply the more the working capital the lesser is such risk. Working capital management is to decide this level of working capital so that the criteria of risk and profitability are balanced off. Business operations are directly affected by working capital management. More the current assets in ratio with fixed assets the lesser is the risk of short term insolvency, but the current assets are less productive than fixed assets and thus affect business operations producing less profitability. Contrary to the when current liabilities are more used ( as compared to ling term liabilities) to finance total assets the profitability increases as current liabilities as source of finance are considered less costlier than long term sources of finance. According management of working capital directly affects the business activities of the company. Working capital mismanagement is aptly indicated by the adverse current ratio and this is what happened in the organization. Shortage of cash and near to cash current assets forced the entity to delay the timely liquidation of accounts payable forcing them to increase the liabilities by levying interest on delayed payments as per terms of credit. Suppliers forced renegotiations of agreements revising rates and terms of credit. Shortage of inventory forced delay in conversion to finished goods and that affected the flow of fresh sales orders and renewal of existing sales orders. These abnormalities affected the cash conversion cycle and average age of inventory. With the result operating cycle period started getting longer; and thereby

Macro Economics Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words - 1
Macro Economics - Assignment Example The ECB is thinking of buying corporate bonds as an option if it believes that more measures are needed to increase money into the European economy. Though such an idea does not seem to be imminent, investors snapped up stocks and sold the euro based on ECBââ¬â¢s thinking. Investors are moved by signs that ECB is considering more policy measures to increase money in the European economy if current measures such as low interest rates, new bank lending facility as well as a program to buy particular types of debts fail to boost economic growth and inflation. Franceââ¬â¢s CAC 40 went up by 2.3 percent and Germanyââ¬â¢s DA rose by 1.9 percent. In the same vein, Spanish stock rose by 2.4 percent and Italian stock went up by 2.8 percent. The ECBââ¬â¢s current initiatives are geared toward adding money supply to the economy by increasing the amount of assets on its books. ECB creates new bank reserves by printing money to purchase assets. The graph below shows there is a decrease in money supplied in the European economy. The European Central Bank (ECB) has to put into play policy measures that will move the graph to the right as shown by the arrow. These measures include low interest rates, buying of corporate bonds as well as new bank lending facility which will add money to the economy and push the graph to the right in order to boost economic growth and inflation. The nominal interest rate must decrease to encourage the demand for money back to the equilibrium. It is worth to note that an decrease in the nominal interest rate will decrease the demand for savings and so increase the demand for money. The technology of medicine & how its shaped the nation over the last Essay
The technology of medicine & how its shaped the nation over the last century as it pertains to war battlefield effectiveness - Essay Example All the above have been made simpler, faster, cost effective and above all, life saving processes through technology. Medical help is offered online and there are facilities to reach out to specialists and doctors for online advice and suggestions before critical surgeries. Evolution and incorporation of technology and medicine have gone a long way in changing the world today (Hernandez, 2007). There have been new treatments for previously terminal and untreatable illnesses such as diabetes and AIDS. An acute condition like bypass grafting is possible today due to the major advancement in medicine and technology. New procedures have been developed that enable diagnosis and treatment of secondary ailments. It is an on-going clinical progress today, done to improvise on the quality as well as making major advances in the scope of medicine (National Research Council, 2003) The most important contribution of medical technology has been towards war and the injured soldiers. It has come a long way from using chloroform to perform surgeries (Civil War), to the discovery of penicillin (WWII) to the latest medication and treatments provided today to the war- ravaged soldiers. The concept of Triage, wherein the injured are treated based on the severity of their wounds, was pioneered first during the Napoleon wars and is being implemented even today. Today the soldiers are trained on better management of the injured with the aid of improved technology and advancement in medicine. Wars in Afghanistan, Vietnam and Iraq have one thing in common- gravely injured soldiers who needed immediate attention and medical aid. This led to the improvisation of medicine with better equipment provided to the army, pain management and infection control given priority, setting up of combat support hospitals (Military Medicine, 2009) which specialize in the planning and

How and to what extent performance management in the public sector has Essay
How and to what extent performance management in the public sector has changed under contemporary managerial reforms Identify a - Essay Example In pursuit for reforms in the management of the public sectors, there have been radical changes in the last two decades on how governments do their management; there has been outsourcing of those management practices and techniques from the private-for ââ¬âprofit sectors with the purpose of reforming the government (public) sector. Since then, several countries have adopted these practices; Australia, New Zealand, and UK are some of the countries that have adopted the practices in the public sector management (Aulich, Halligan and Nutley 2001, p.46). Even though the system is widely believed to be associated with the developed countries, in the recent decade, its application has been witnessed in a number of the transitional and developing economies. These contemporary techniques and practices sourced from the private sector to the public sector are referred to as New Public Management, NPM (Eliassen and Sitter 2008, p.58). Pressures for Change NPM adoption came with the rising p ressure from other quarters; it is a change process that has been adopted because of agitation from several sectors and interested groups. Some of the reasons that led to the adoption of the new strategy of public management included; Fiscal and Economic Pressure on the Governments This problem was first witnessed in the developed countries before spreading to the developing countries of Africa and Asia, lately; it was also witnessed in the Asian tiger Economies. There were fiscal stress that was necessitated by enormous public sector deficit, spiraling indebtedness, and unfavorable balance of trade. This fiscal problem made it possible for the reconstruction of the public sector through rethinking, reshaping what the role of the government is, to counter the problems that were facing the public sector, drastic measure of privatization, contracting, and downsizing became the available options (Bovaird and Loffler 2009, p.37). There was also public outcry on the leathery and the bure aucratic nature of the old order, the increased criticism from the public on the ineffectiveness and inefficiencies associated with public delivery of services occasioned the need for change. The old order was criticized for its slow and unresponsiveness that is driven by the established rules rather than its performance. The international consultants on management ideas advised most of the government on the need to change the management of the public sector by integrating some of the management tools from the private sectors (Ferlie, Laurence and Christopher, 2005, p.84). Finally, for the transitional and developing countries, there change has been necessitated by the donor agencies; it has been one of the conditions for lending form the international financial institution like the World Bank and the IMF. Changes Noted in the Public Sector following NPM As stated above in introductory part there was need for more efficient and effective of the public sector resources, in this regar d several tools used in the management have been used that are sourced from the private sector to improve the performance of the public sector organization following the failure of the traditional systems used. In effecting this, several changes have been seen from the traditional order of public sector management, these changes have been
Incorporating technology into the classroom Research Paper
Incorporating technology into the classroom - Research Paper Example The amount of refocused attention greatly depends on the type and amount of technology being presented (Anderson, 2008). However, this does not imply that the teacher has lost significance in the learning process. Students may be submerged in various technologies at home, but it is a wrong assumption that they are equipped to manipulate this technology for learning purposes. Guidance is essential in helping most students effectively use technology as a collaboration and learning digital tools. Podcasts can be an effective communication tool for highlighting upcoming school events and activities particularly scheduled ones. They also come handy in putting to spotlight the staff and student accomplishments. Testimonials from parents affirm that podcasts serve as a very effective communication tool. Podcasts can also be used for lessons. Students can be allowed to take home and listen again to a lesson or even missed classes. Further explanations can be given on the subject via podcasts. Programs are installed that link studentââ¬â¢s work both in school and at home. That way, a student has access to notes and can print the notes from any internet connected. This aids in eliminating the need of physical files transfer and increasing accessibility. Teachers can give notes and assignments, and when a student is not in a position to attend school, they can access the lesson materials. This should however be used in caution since it can encourage absenteeism since students know they will eventually get the notes. Although many schools ban cell phones, few have embraced this readily available technology and utilized it as a tool for teaching. Students are instructed to register with their class teacher. Teachers can then send mass short messages to students for assignments, instructions and more (Eschenbrenner & Nah, 2007). Students are also allowed to take snapshots of the blackboard, access blogs by their teachers, download entire
